Michaelhouse café is set within the 14th century church of St Michael's, a Parish and Collegiate Church in the heart of Cambridge.
By the early 1990s, the Church buildings were increasingly in need of significant repair, and an ambitious fundraising and building project was set in place. Eight years later, the Michaelhouse Centre opened, and it has since become one of the key cultural and spiritual locations in Cambridge.
The Michaelhouse café operates in this beautiful location, replete with mezzanine and art gallery, offering delicious, simple food made from local ingredients.
The café is run by Bill Sewell, a restaurateur and
food writer who has two other cafes in churches - Café Below in London and Café @ All Saints in Hereford.
As an alumnus of Trinity College and a consultant on the 1990s refurbishment of St Michaels, running the café at Michaelhouse is very much a return for Bill and a project that is close to his heart. |
